Net-Casting Spider Sketch
The first sketch I’ve done in a long time, this one was created in Corel Photo-Paint with a Wacom tablet. For reference I borrowed my wife’s excellent book on spiders, and this may have been the coolest spider shown!
I also started with a 20% gray background here, which allowed me to use white for the web and highlights. This worked pretty well and felt a lot nicer than the default white backgrounds on which I used to sketch, so I’ll probably do it again next sketch.
This drawing was kept simple as I wanted to focus on proportions and I may turn it into a more detailed piece later in 3d.
